It's Beginning to Look A Lot Like Christmas!

Posted by Beth Kane on November 30, 2015 at 11:05 AM

These days I am working as hard as Santa's elves!  The studio is filled with all the supplies I could gather for creating ornaments galore!  New this year I am working with alcohol inks to make the ornaments above that are so rich with color that they almost sing!  Alcohol inks are absolutely spectacular, though it does take a bit of dedication to really develop a feel for how they flow.  It is definitely worth the effort - I am having a blast!  Look for these and other unique ornaments and gifts at my upcoming shows!

That's Colby, all blurry in the background, in her favorite spot in the studio.  She is such lovely company!  Here is a picture where you can see her pretty face!  Thank you, Frolic customers, for helping me to take in wonderfully deserving animals like Colby!  Read more about them all here.

Time for Celebration!

Posted by Beth Kane on November 6, 2015 at 3:30 AM

My latest thrill is crocheting stirngs of light in with the beautiful "stained glass" or "trellis" yarn that I use for my Fiber Bling!  These 7ft long twinkling garlands are so eye-catching and delightful!  And since they are battery operated they can be part of any decorative scene!  Use them with candles as your table's centerpiece, on the mantle near the stockings hung with care, or even on your desk at work for a little reminder that the holidays are for festing!

* They are fabulous paired with matching wine boas! *

The Glitter Garland pictured is just one of the color schemes I am making for 2015!
I also have burgundies and golds, reds and greens, New Year's Black & White, and in 2016 I will be offering Birthday Glitter Garland as well!

What fun!

Happy Halloween!

Posted by Beth Kane on October 30, 2015 at 4:15 AM

Happy Halloween!!!!
Best wishes to everyone for a playfully spooky celebration!
Last year Frolic celebrated the 31st by introducing my Flirty Ghosties! (see them on my Fabric Sculpture page!)
This year I have included wood-quilted decor in Frolic's Halloween bag of treats!
This one reads,

“There is freedom waiting for you,

On the breezes of the sky,

And you ask "What if I fall?"

Oh but my darling,

What if you fly?”

Awesome, right?

Happy Autumn!

Posted by Beth Kane on October 29, 2015 at 3:15 AM

Happy Autumn!
This Fall has been a busy one here at the river!
There have been horse adventures, crafting adventures, quite a few scary false alarms, and a cup overflowing with gratitude!
Here Moondance gets used to his new paddock, which we installed to keep the horses safe and calm, away from the debris that falls from the trees in their usual paddock.
I hope your September and October have been full of crisp walks in the woods, warm apple cider, and more than a few delightful fireside chats!
Carpe Diem!  Autumn flies by quickly but deliciously!
(and don't worry - those are dogwood trees in the background, not red maples.  They are perfectly safe for horses... phew!)

BTW, the reason I titled this "Happy Autumn!" and not "Happy Fall" is that I have learned never to refer to horses and "fall" together.  When we were still deliberating about whether or not we could manage the care of horses I tried to boost my confidence and excitement by googling "horses in Fall" because Fall is such a horsey time, and I imagined the pictures would be quite beautiful.  What I got was absolutely terrifying and did nothing to boost my confidence about taking on these enormous and incredible creatures.  I found much lovelier pictures when I googled "Horses in Autumn" instead!

I Forgot to Show You!

Posted by Beth Kane on October 28, 2015 at 4:00 PM

I forgot to show you the finished product!
Presenting... "Where I Come From", inspired by Tim McGraw's song, "Meanwhile Back at Mama's", in particular the line:

"Where I come from only the horses run;
When the day is done, we take it easy."
